  • Congratulations to Madresfield CE Primary School

    Wed 01 Dec 2021

No one likes going through an inspection but they are useful in that they provide an outside look on what is going well and the next steps for  improvement. We are always particularly pleased when we read an inspection report and think, ‘Yes, that is definitely our school!’ This was the case for Madresfield and I would like to congratulate the staff on all their hard work—particularly the two new members of staff who had only joined the school in September! The report had this to say,

This is a very caring school where attention to pupils’ safety and well-being is second to none. Pupils’ behaviour is excellent. In lessons, they listen to their teachers, work hard and help others. On the playground, they look out for one another. There are many rewards that recognise and celebrate this kind and thoughtful behaviour. Upsets and bullying are rare. Even so, pupils know that adults or other pupils will always help them if anything ever worries them. This ethos of care extends to the way leaders treat staff. Staff say they love working at the school and value the strong team spirit. Staff promote reading well and adults often read aloud to the class. Pupils of all ages enjoy talking about the books they have read. Pupils produce quality work in English and mathematics. In other subjects, pupils do interesting things. However, there is more to do to make sure pupils learn everything that they should.’

There has been a lot of disruption over the past year. The school is working hard to make up for lost ground and ensure the children catch up with any missed learning. Realigning the curriculum to take account of that whilst ensuring improvements are brought in at pace is a high focus—but how lovely to see that the amazing ethos of care and support was recognised and held up as a strength.

    Well done, Madresfield!

  • Congratulations to St. Nicholas CE Middle School

    Mon 12 Jul 2021

So pleased we are now able to share the news of St. Nicholas' recent Ofsted success.

Inspectors recognised the all the hard work of governors, senior leaders, staff, pupils and parents over the last year.

St Nicholas’ Church of England Middle School is an improving school. It is welcoming and inclusive. It is a happy school, where people get on. Pupils show tolerance and understanding of people’s differences. Pupils are safe and well cared for. Incidents of bullying are very rare, but pupils say that if it does occur, teachers deal with it quickly.

Senior leaders have worked hard to improve the quality of education that the pupils receive. Staff now expect pupils to achieve well and pupils are rising to these expectations. Teaching has improved and pupils remember, and build on, what they are taught. Subject leaders have started to develop their subjects. There is still more to do to ensure that pupils experience well-planned and sequenced learning in all subjects.

Pupils’ behaviour allows learning to happen. Across the school, there is a consistent approach to managing behaviour. Pupils recognise this. A pupil’s comment summed up the views of many when they said, ‘We don’t get away with things anymore, which is good. It means we can learn.

  • Hope

    Tue 16 Mar 2021

Everyone back to school on Monday 8th March - and all of a sudden there has been a noticeable shift in mood, as is eloquently expressed in these poems written by children from Madresfield CE Primary School.

    Hope

Hope is a stream never running out,

Hope is my heart always beating,

Hope is the sun coming up,

    Hope is never retreating.

    Hope is a smile.

    Hope never runs out,

    Hope fills in the gaps,

    Hope is never to doubt.

Hope gets me through the tough times,

    Hope holds my hand,

Hope gives me help when I need it.

    Like footprints in the sand.

    By Ellie

    Hope

I hope we can see each other soon.

I hope I can play with my cousin.

I hope I can hug Granny.

I hope school isn't too hard.

I hope all the people in hospital will get better.

I hope lockdown will end soon.

I hope we can all get the vaccine.

    I hope Coronavirus stops.

    By Bertie

    Hope

Hope is one of the greatest things you can achieve.

Over the world hope takes place all of the time.

People hope for something that they really want to have.

    Everybody should hope.

  • Bin Twinning Project at Powick

    Tue 08 Dec 2020

To celebrate harvest, this year at Powick we supported Tearfund and collected 50p coins in school to support this organisation which works on projects to improve waste disposal in Pakistan, Haiti and Uganda.

In total we collected £152.50 as a school which means we will be twinned with 3 bins!   One of our Reception pupils, Abraham, researched Tearfund in more detail and even made a tower from all of his 50p’s! He raised a total of £45 in 50p’s which paid for one bin twinning.

Reverend Gary delivered our bin twinning stickers and Abraham proudly stuck it onto our school bin.  Our bin is now twinned with a project in Pakistan and the money raised by our school will help to fund sustainable projects in Pakistan.

Well done to everyone who took part!

  • Virtual School Games Award for The Littletons CE First School

    Mon 06 Jul 2020

Well done to all the pupils at The Littletons CE First School for their latest achievement. With the School Games awards being cancelled this year, the academy entered a Virtual School Games award instead, sending off  all their evidence of being active during lockdown—to include Joe Wicks PE, Yoga, holding a Sports Day event at home and sharing the images, cycling and walking activities, to name but a few. We are pleased to say we have achieved the award and been issued with a badge to recognise this.

In addition, one proud pupil entered a Virtual School Games Competition to design a flag showing the School Games Values and all of the sports that we have competed in this academic year.
