The Trust Board and Local Governing Bodies of the Diocese of Worcester Multi Academy Trust (DoWMAT) are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our academies are a safe place for children, where our responsibilities for safeguarding children are taken seriously.


DoWMAT fully adopts the Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2016.

Policy and Procedures
All policies and procedures in respect of safeguarding children are up to date and reviewed regularly.
 

Disclosure and Barring Checks
The DoWMAT meets statutory requirements in relation to Disclosure and Barring Service – all staff and volunteers who work within DoWMAT schools are required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to employment.
 

Board of Trustees Responsibilities
As delegated by the Board of Directors, Claire Davies CEO is the overall Trust Lead for Safeguarding Children and Adults at Risk.
The DoWMAT Board is committed to working with our Local Safeguarding Children Boards of for the Worcester and Dudley areas.
 

Safeguarding Leads / Child Protection Officers
Each academy within DoWMAT has a Designated Safeguarding Lead who takes a lead role for safeguarding and child protection at their academy. All are clear about their role, have sufficient time and receive relevant support and training to undertake their roles.

Training
All eligible staff and volunteers are required to undertake relevant safeguarding training on a regular basis. In addition, the DSL provides academy staff with regular safeguarding updates.
